The international festival of Russian culture called "Russian Seasons," which is now coming to its end in Italy, has been highly successful and helped strengthen bilateral humanitarian cooperation, Russia's Culture Minister Vladimir Medinsky said on Wednesday.
"The Russian Seasons project in Italy, to our great joy, has turned out to be exceptionally successful and has found a warm response from the public, introducing the people of Italy to the richest heritage of Russian culture," Medinsky told the Italian La Stampa newspaper.
Italian Culture Minister Alberto Bonisoli also commended the Russian event in an interview with Sputnik.
"The participation of millions of people in hundreds of events held in many cities across our country has clearly demonstrated the success of this diverse cultural program of the highest level," Bonisoli said.
The festival, which aims to promote Russian culture abroad, started in Rome in January with a tour of the St. Petersburg-based Mariinsky State Academic Theatre. It has featured more than 250 events, including 63 symphonic concerts, 54 theatrical plays, 55 ballet performances and an extensive exhibition program in over 40 Italian cities throughout the year.
