Russia's Lawmaker Says Instigators Of Cyberattacks On Online Voting System Established

Instigators of attacks on Russia's online voting system from abroad were identified and should be subject to due punishment, a relevant appeal was submitted to the Russian Public Prosecution Service, Vasily Piskarev, the head of the lower chamber's commission for investigating foreign interference, said on Wednesday
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd September, 2021) Instigators of attacks on Russia's online voting system from abroad were identified and should be subject to due punishment, a relevant appeal was submitted to the Russian Public Prosecution Service, Vasily Piskarev, the head of the lower chamber's commission for investigating foreign interference, said on Wednesday.
"Today, I signed and submitted to the Russian Public Prosecution Service an appeal on the facts of calls from abroad to stage cyberattacks on our online voting system. Numerous systematic attempts to hack it continued during all the three voting days, but the goal of hindering voluntary expression of the will of our citizens was not achieved. The instigators are known and those guilty should be subject to due punishment," Piskarev told reporters.
