DAMASCUS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 17th January, 2019) The military council of Syria's Manbij arrested a terrorist cell planning new attacks in the city and receiving instructions from the Turkish intelligence, the council's press service said Thursday.
On Wednesday, about two dozen people, including up to five US servicemen, were killed in Manbij in an explosion for which the Islamic State (banned in Russia) terrorist group claimed responsibility.
"The anti-terrorist units of the council detained a cell of seven militants, members of opposition groups, who participated in Operation Euphrates Wrath, were supported by Turkey and acted in collusion with the Turkish intelligence," the press service said, adding that the cell was plotting terror acts and was in possession of a large set of weapons and ammo.
