UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres held a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, UN Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said in a press briefing on Wednesday
"Today, the Secretary-General had a series of bilateral meetings, including with President Petro Poroshenko of Ukraine," Haq told reporters.
Guterres also met with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel, the founder of China's largest e-commerce company Alibaba Group Jack Ma and the CEO of the WEF Klaus Schwab.
Haq explained Guterres emphasized during the meeting the importance of what he has called "fair globalization" and address the rising wealth inequality within the context of economic growth.
On Tuesday, the World Economic Forum brought together thousands of leading political and business leaders to discuss the most pressing issues facing the world.
Established in 1971, the World Economic Forum plays the role of an international institution for public-private cooperation. The cooperation aims to improve the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic and other leaders to shape global, regional and industry agendas, according to the Forum's mission.
