Yellow vest demonstrators gathered in the French capital on Saturday for the 10th consecutive weekend of anti-government protests, a Sputnik correspondent reported

PARIS (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 19th January, 2019) Yellow vest demonstrators gathered in the French capital on Saturday for the 10th consecutive weekend of anti-government protests, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

Demonstrators started to assemble by the Invalides esplanade in the 7th arrondissement of Paris at 11:30 a.m.

local time (10:30 GMT).

People are shouting anti-government slogans, waving flags and singing songs.

Earlier this week, French President Emmanuel Macron launched a national debate aimed at pacifying the protests, which began in mid-November over fuel tax hikes and have since expanded into a broader demonstration against the government.
