Zelenskiy Thanks Macron For Congratulation On Victory In Ukrainian Presidential Runoff

KIEV (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 22nd April, 2019) Ukrainian presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskiy thanked French President Emmanuel Macron late on Sunday for the latter's congratulation on Zelenskiy's victory in the Ukrainian presidential race.

Earlier on Sunday, Ukrainian online newspaper Ukrayinska Pravda reported that Zelenskiy and Macron had held a phone conversation.

"Thank you, French President Emmanuel Macron, for congratulations," Zelenskiy wrote on Facebook.

Zelenskiy attached to his post a photo depicting him talking by the phone.

Zelenskiy is leading in the runoff, held on Sunday between him and incumbent Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. The country's Central Election Commission said earlier in the day, after 10.53 percent of the ballots were counted, that Zelenskiy had secured support of 72.87 percent of the voters.
