Auditor General Of Pakistan For Modernizing Auditing Practices

The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), Javaid Jehangir stressed the need of aligning auditing practices with modern requirements and in line with needs of the stakeholders.
ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 11th Sep, 2018 ) :The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), Javaid Jehangir stressed the need of aligning auditing practices with modern requirements and in line with needs of the stakeholders.
He was speaking at The Economic Cooperation Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ECOSAI) seminar on "Challenges to Existing Public Sector Auditing Routines" held at Istanbul, Turkey, according to AGP press statement issued here.
The AGP said that due to the increasing demands of accountability of government operations, the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) were under greater obligations to produce more meaningful and comprehensive audit reports, focusing on key issues of strategic importance.
He said that this could be made possible only through developing professional capacities in line with the requirements of stakeholders, adding that interactions like this seminar provided excellent platform to share ideas and best practices with other Supreme Audit Institutions.
According to the press statement, the President of Turkish Court of Accounts (TCA) had especially invited the Auditor General of Pakistan to participate in the seminar as a chief guest being the Secretary General of the ECOSAI.
The seminar was conceived and designed with the support from Department of the Auditor General of Pakistan, the statement added.
The seminar was attended by delegates from ECOSAI countries i.e Pakistan, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Iran, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
The major issues discussed during the seminar included challenges to public sector auditing practice, performance and value for money audits, auditing Sustainable Development Goals and challenges faced by SAIs face in preventing corruption and fraud.
