Mexico Seeks To Hold Meeting On Economic Cooperation With Russia In 2019 - Ambassador

Mexico plans to hold a session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation with Russia in 2019, Mexican Ambassador to Russia Norma Bertha Pensado Moreno said in an interview with Sputnik, released on Tuesday.
MOSCOW (UrduPoint News / Sputnik - 21st August, 2018) Mexico plans to hold a session of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation with Russia in 2019, Mexican Ambassador to Russia Norma Bertha Pensado Moreno said in an interview with Sputnik, released on Tuesday.
"We hope that [the meeting] will be held as early as possible next year; this is one of our priorities. The first months of the next year will, of course, be devoted to starting the term of the new administration [of Mexican President-Elect Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador]," the ambassador said.
She went on to note that the Mexican authorities were interested in holding the session in the first quarter of 2019, but that it was early to talk about any specific dates due to the changes in the countrys domestic policies.
Mexico is one of Russias key partners in Latin America. In 2017, Pensado told Sputnik in an interview that Mexico was willing to expand trade with Russia and facilitate bilateral investment amid ongoing structural reforms, aimed to boost the country's economy.
