S. Korea's trade terms drop for fourth straight month in March

South Korea's terms of trade fell for the fourth month in a row in March due to a sharp rise in import prices, central bank data showed Wednesday.

SEOUL, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 25th Apr, 2018 ) :South Korea's terms of trade fell for the fourth month in a row in March due to a sharp rise in import prices, central bank data showed Wednesday.

The terms of trade index for products came to 97.77 last month, down 1.9 percent from a year earlier, according to preliminary data from the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The figure has been on a steady decline since December and has remained below the 100 line over the four-month period.

The index measures the amount of imports a country can purchase for each unit of exports and shows how the country's exports are doing in comparison to those of other countries. The BOK said import prices moved up 6.9 percent from a year earlier last month due to upbeat crude oil prices, exceeding a 4.9 percent gain in export prices.

The income terms of trade rebounded 1.4 percent on-year to 152.33 last month, the central bank added.
