NUST Team Wins First Prize At Jazz SDG Hackathon

Continuing the legacy of winning laurels one after the other, NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (SEECS) earned first prize at Jazz SDG Hackathon,organisedfrom December 7 to 9, 2018
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Dec, 2018 ) Continuing the legacy of winning laurels one after the other, NUST School of Electrical Engineering & Computer Science (SEECS) earned first prize at Jazz SDG Hackathon,organisedfrom December 7 to 9, 2018.
Held at National Incubation Centre, the event was jointly arranged by Jazz, Code for Pakistan and Open Islamabad.SEECS team stood tall among teams formed out of 100 participants from various universities to create prototypes addressing civic and social problems in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
NUST team – comprising Software Engineering students, namely Burhan-ul-Tayyab, Wajahat Hussain Khan and WajeehaYasin– presented their project “Smart Shapewear for the Early Detection of Breast Cancer.” The shapewear having several high-tech sensors sends real-time data to an android app, equipped with Machine Learning, to determine the risk of having Breast Cancer.
The guest of honour for the closing ceremony was Hamza Shafqaat, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, who awarded a cash prize of PKR 150, 000 to the NUST team as a token of appreciation.
