Fatima Jinnah Women University Organizes Seminar On 'Mental Health, Drug Abuse'

The Department of Behavioural Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Women University (FJWU) Wednesday organized a seminar on "Mental Health and Drug Abuse".
Yasir Masood Afaq, a renowned psychologist and Founding Director of House of Wellness, a premium residential psychiatric treatment facility and drug rehab in Islamabad was guest speaker on the occasion.
Yasir Masood also conducted an interactive session along with edifying videos. The students were made aware of the types of drug abuse, its pathways, related psychosocial issues and associated mental health conditions.
Both risk and protective factors along with appropriate pathways of seeking help were also discussed.
The speaker underlined the need of psychological first aid training to take preventive and precautionary measures against drug abuse.
Over 150 students attended the event while at the end of the seminar, a Tableau drama was also presented.
Head of Department of Behavioural Sciences Dr Aneela Maqsood presented souvenir to Yasir Masood Afaq as a token of appreciation.
