Khyber Medical University 9th Annual Health Research Conference Concludes In Peshawar

Federal Director General of Health Services Prof. Dr Asad Hafeez Friday said that vast inequity between drug research and development and neglected diseases reveals a need to bolster research capacity in developing countries like Pakistan through international and national collaboration.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 09th Mar, 2018 ) :Federal Director General of Health Services Prof. Dr Asad Hafeez Friday said that vast inequity between drug research and development and neglected diseases reveals a need to bolster research capacity in developing countries like Pakistan through international and national collaboration.
Addressing the closing ceremony of Khyber Medical University (KMU) 9th Annual Health Research Conference 2018, he said that only 10 perecnt of the world expenditure on health research and development is spent on health conditions.
He said that universities are fountains of generating knowledge and time has arrived that they should also lead to action by transforming the knowledge into practice.
He also appreciated the role of Khyber Medical Univeirty in field of reasearch and innovations.
WHO represntative Dr Mohammad Assai said that health research is important to take an interdisciplinary approach to global health problems, which are multi-faceted in nature. He mentioned that research must focus on concerns raised by developing countries, closing gap in health disparities within countries.
Besides others Technical Officer WHO-EMRO, Prof. Dr Gohar Wajid, VC KMU Prof. Dr Jawad Ahmad and Prof. Dr Arshad Javed were also present at the concluding ceremony.
