Punjab Healthcare Commission Seals Drug Addiction Treatment Centre In Lahore

The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) on Monday sealed a drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation centre over insufficient psychiatric, health and residential facilities there, after evacuating 21 persons.
The PHC team conducted a raid on Arshad Rehab Addiction Treatment Centre in Johar Town, which was functioning without required human resource including psychiatrists, psychologists, doctors, para-medical staff and insufficient facilities.
The team evacuated 21 persons, got them examined and handed them over to their relatives prior to sealing of the premises.
A spokesperson for the PHC said that so far the Commission had conducted raids on 82 drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation centres, and evacuated 672 persons.
"Out of the visited centres, 37 were completely and six partially sealed," he said, adding that show-cause noticeswere served on 24 centres.
