LONDON, Sept. 23 (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Sep, 2021 ) --:Another 34,460 people in Britain have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 7,530,103, according to official figures released Thursday.
The country also recorded another 166 coronavirus-related deaths. The total number of coronavirus-related deaths in Britain now stands at 135,621. These figures only include the deaths of people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.
The latest data came as British Transport Secretary Grant Shapps told lawmakers that the government is "working as quickly as possible" to scrap PCR tests for fully vaccinated international travellers after their arrival in the country.
The British government recently announced its intention for people from non-red list countries who have had both doses of the vaccine to be able to use cheaper lateral flow tests instead.
Meanwhile, scientists at the Rosaline Franklin Institute, a British national research institute, have found llamas produce a unique kind of antibody, known as nanobodies, which they believe could offer new treatment against COVID-19, administered as a nasal spray.
