The Interior Ministry has decided to formulate a new security plan for election rallies and corner meetings
Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th July, 2018) The terrorists have reportedly planned to target at least 18 politicians and eight officials of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ahead of the general elections scheduled to be held on July 25.
According to a news report published in a local newspaper, the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has issued a warning for 18 politicians and eight ECP officials.
The report stated that an unannounced ban on election rallies and public meetings has been requested in the Interior Ministry meeting held in Karachi.
In view of the fresh wave of terrorism to sabotage election campaigning, the Interior Ministry has decided to formulate a new security plan for election rallies and corner meetings after taking the political parties into confidence.
In the Karachi meeting, the chief secretaries of all the four provinces had suggested to limit the big rallies in view of the threat of terrorism.
On the other hand, NACTA has named 18 politicians and eight ECP officials under threat from terrorists.
NACTA has reportedly received threat alerts for 12 common and six prominent political figures amid elections.
