Accountability Court Convicts A Postmaster In Pension Scam

Accountability Court Peshawar in a reference filed by NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NAB KP) convicted accused Naeemullah, Postmaster of GPO Jamrud Khyber Agency for a term of 4-year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs 6,450,000 in pension scam.
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Mar, 2018 ) :Accountability Court Peshawar in a reference filed by NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NAB KP) convicted accused Naeemullah, Postmaster of GPO Jamrud Khyber Agency for a term of 4-year Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs 6,450,000 in pension scam.
As per details, the convict Naeemullah was posted as Postmaster at Sub-post office Jamrud Khyber Agency. He with malafide intention embezzled Rs 6,450,118 from government funds under the grab of pension payments to the persons who had died, ghost pensioners, repetition of payment and alteration in figures in pension payment amount.
It merits to mentioning here that this case was an off-shoot of a massive pension scam in which Rs 283.442 million were embezzled, said NAB KP spokesperson. It would be out of place to mention here that several accused are convicted in other similar cases regarding misappropriation of pension funds.
Moreover, NAB investigation against Pakistan Post officials in several pension scams resulted in drastic decreased in pension payments and with the assistance of NAB KP Pakistan Post made massive reforms in Post Payment System due to which billions of rupees of governemnt money was saved.
