LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Jan, 2019 ) :World Punjabi Congress (WPC) Chairman Fakhar Zaman said on Tuesday that literature and writers must contribute to sowing the seeds of peace in world societies and this year's international conference will trace the relationship between Punjabi literature and peace.

Talking to APP, acclaimed champion of Punjabi language and literature Fakhar Zaman said that world literature must work for the promotion of peace, tolerance and harmony besides nurturing an intellectual shield against terrorism and fanaticism.

He said, a three-day international conference was being held between February 1-3, 2019 here at Hotel Pak Heritage, Davis Road, adding that the moot would explore the major theme of 'Peace and Punjabi'.

He said that eminent delegates from various countries including India, UK, Canada, Netherlands, Sweden and Germany were invited to attend the conference, adding that different sessions would be held on varied themes including 'Literature and Peace', 'Fine Arts and Peace', 'Role of Writers in the Area of Strife', 'Punjab Language and Peace', and 'Building Peace Bridges between India and Pakistan' during the three-day moot.

He said, 50 delegates were expected to read their papers during the conference.

The WPC Chairman further said that an English language documentary on Sufi Punjabi poet Bullah Shah will be shown to the audiences while a cultural show will be arranged by the Punjab Institute of Language, Art and Culture (PILAC) on the second day at the PILAC, Qaddafi Stadium, Ferozpur Road.

He said Canadian poet Sukhinder Singh's book on Lahore would alsobe launched during the moot, adding that peace would be nucleus of all readings and discussions at the conference.
