All Main Rivers Flowing Normal: Flood Commission

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23th August, 2016) : All main rivers including Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal, according to daily flood situation report issued by Federal Flood Commission on Wednesday here.
Wednesday's river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla reservoirs are at elevations of 1541.55 feet and 1240.70 feet respectively, which are 8.45 feet and 1.30 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550 feet and 1242 feet.
Today's (Wednesday) combined live storage capacity of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 13.388 MAF as compared to last year's 14.067 MAF. The Dam Management authorities are advised to take utmost care and vigilance in operation and strictly follow SOPs and safety guidelines. According to Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, Tuesday's monsoon low over Northeastern Madhya Pradesh (India) has moved West-North westwards and today lies over Northwestern Madhya Pradesh (India) and adjoining Rajasthan (India).
Shallow trough of westerly wave still persists over Kashmir and adjoining areas. Weak seasonal low lies over Northeastern Balochistan.
Moist current is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 5000 feet.
As predicted by the Flood Forecasting Division, Lahore, scattered thunderstorm/rain is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej including Southeastern Sindh and Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sahiwal and Bahawalpur Divisions during the next 24 hours.
Isolated thunderstorm/ rain may also occur over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus and Kabul including Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Kohat Divisions, besides, Northeastern Balochistan during the same period. These rains may generate low to medium flood flows in local nullahs of River Ravi (Deg, Basantar and Bein) during the next 24 hours. Scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavyfalls is expected over the upper catchments of Rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej including Punjab, Southeastern Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Peshawar and Kohat Divisions) and Northeastern Balochistan from 25-26 August, 2016. There is chance of increase in flow of hill torrents of D.G.
