Anti-polio Campaign Kicks Off In Khyber Agency

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 23rd Jan, 2017 ) : A five-day anti-polio campaign kicked off Monday in Khyber Agency about 225,000 children below the age of five years will be vaccinated.

Total 869 teams, comprising 791 mobile teams, 52 fixed teams and 26 transit teams have been constituted. EOC Coordinator Dr Fidda Mohammad Wazir after inaugurating the anti-polio campaign in Khyber Agency said he was hopeful to achieve the target of ending polio soon.

Inauguration ceremony was held at Civil Hospital Jamurad, Khyber Agency, which was attended by MNA (NA 45) Khyber Agency Shahjee Gul, Political Agent Khyber Agency Khalid Mehmood, Director Health Services FATA Dr Jawad Habib Khan, local maliks, media professionals, agency health officials, partner staff and communityelders.

He said that success against polio would not have been possible without the support of FATA citizens, Pakistan Army, Political Administration and media. He said every person, every individual and every institution in FATA has played its role to contribute towards polio eradication in FATA.

EOC Coordinator FATA, Political Agent Khyber Agency and MNA Shahjee Gul inaugurated campaign by administering polio drops to children and urged the parents and communities to make sure that no children is left unvaccinated during campaign.
