Bye-election; 38 candidates contesting for five National Assembly, two Provincial Assembly seats in Rawalpindi Division

Total 38 candidates are in the run for Oct 14 bye-elections for five National Assembly (NA) seats including NA-56 Attock-II, NA-60 Rawalpindi-IV, NA-63 Rawalpindi-VII, NA-65 Chakwal-II, NA-53, Islamabad-II and two Punjab Provincial Assembly (PA) seats PP-3, Attock-III and PP-27 Jhelum-III.

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Sep, 2018 ) :Total 38 candidates are in the run for Oct 14 bye-elections for five National Assembly (NA) seats including NA-56 Attock-II, NA-60 Rawalpindi-IV, NA-63 Rawalpindi-VII, NA-65 Chakwal-II, NA-53, Islamabad-II and two Punjab Provincial Assembly (PA) seats PP-3, Attock-III and PP-27 Jhelum-III.

The Federal capital is included with the Rawalpindi division which comprises Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Attock and Jhelum districts by the Election Commission of Pakistan for holding of the bye-elections.

Eight candidates including Aftab Ahmed Qureshi, Independent has been allotted Jeep symbol, Asghar Ali Mubarak, the candidate of Pakistani Awami League, given Hockey, Tehmina Sajjad Khan, Independent, Butterfly, Zahid Aqeel, Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan, Crane, Sajjad Khan, Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz, Tiger, Sheikh Rashid Shafique, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Bat, Muhammad Azhar Aslam, Independent, Combat Tank and Muhammad Qaiser Mir Dad Khan, Independent candidate allotted Ice Cream symbol by the Returning Officer, NA-60, Rawalpindi-IV.

Similarly, five candidates including Syed Haider Ali Shah, Independent has been allocated Jeep symbol, Syed Ishrat Ali Zaidi, Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarians, Arrow, Aqeel Malik, Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz, Tiger, Qurban Ali, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, Crane and Mansoor Hayat Khan, candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf allocated Bat symbol for the bye-elections by the Returning Officer NA-63.

Syed Faisal Mehmood Shah, Crane, candidate of Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan, Malik Khuram Ali Khan, the candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Bat and Malik Sohail Khan, the candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Tiger symbol are contesting elections in NA-56, Attock-II.

Chaudhary Salik Hussain, Pakistan Muslim League candidate on Tractor symbol, Muhammad Amir, Pakistan Justice and Democratic Party on Gavel symbol and Muhammad Yaqoob, Crane, the candidate of Tehree-e-Labbaik Pakistan are contesting election from NA-65, Chakwal-II.

A total of 11 candidates including M. Sajid Abbasi, Independent with Bucket symbol, Khan Iftikhar Shahzada, Arrow, Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian, Syed Amjad Ali Shah, Study Table with Chair, Independent, Abdul Hafeez, Crane, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan, Ali Nawaz Awan, Bat, the candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muhammad Zubair, Gun, Independent, Muhammad Sarwar Khan Abbasi, Sun Flour, Independent, Nasir Mehmood, Hockey, Pakistan Awami League candidate, Nasir Munir Ahmed, Jeep, Independent, Nafees Ahmed Murad, Pick Up, Independent and Waqar Ahmed, Tiger, the candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz are in the run for NA-53, Islamabad-II constituency.

Similarly, three candidates namely Shahnawaz Raja with Bat symbol, the candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Muhammad Naveed Shahzad, Crane symbol, the candidate of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan and Nasir Mahmood, Tiger symbol, the candidate of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, are contesting from PP-27, Jhelum-III while five candidate, Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate with Tiger symbol, Ayaz Khan, Bucket, Independent, Sardar Muhammad Ali Khan, Pitcher, Independent, Muhammad Akbar Khan, PTI candidate with Bat symbol and Muhammad Mushtaq Ali, Crane, Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan candidate are contesting from PP-3, Attock-III.

According to the Returning Officers of Rawalpindi district, no one will be allowed to violate election Code of Conduct issued by Election Commission of Pakistan during election campaign for Bye-election 2018.

Talking to APP they said, action in accordance with the law would be taken against the violators. The public office holders cannot participate in the election campaign in any manner whatsoever.

According to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the bye-elections will be held on Oct 14 on the National and Provincial Assembly seats which became vacant due to death of contesting/returnedcandidates, resignation and postponement of the elections.

The bye-elections will be held in Rawalpindi division on four National Assembly seats including, NA-56 Attock-II, NA-60 Rawalpindi-IV, NA-63 Rawalpindi-VII, NA-65 Chakwal-II and NA-53 Islamabad-II and two Punjab Provincial Assembly seats PP-3, Attock-III and PP-27 Jhelum-III.
