CCRI Contributes 28 Cotton Varieties

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Oct, 2018 ) ::Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI) Director Dr Zahid Mehmood Sunday said the CCRI contributed 28 varieties of cotton and research work was in progress with a rapid pace.

Addressing to a delegation of travelling seminar here, he said that 20 non-BT and 8 BT varieties were developed at the CCRI, adding that Pakistan was getting more per acre yield as compared to India.

Pakistan is achieving 752kg from one hectare while India is getting 519 kg.

He said the CCRI was also imparting training and creating awareness among researchers and farmers. He added that work on climate resistant varieties was in progress.

Director Research Pakistan Central Cotton Committee Dr Tasawar Malik also spoke and said that the institute was carrying out research on modern lines.

On this occasion, certificates were also distributed among the participants.
