Commissioner Karachi For Trial Train On KCR Track

Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani Wednesday said that they would ask the Pakistan Railways to run trial train on the track of Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) so that they would see the future aspects and impact on ground realities
He said this while reviewing the progress of anti-encroachment operation on KRC Track, in a meeting at his office, said a statement.
The Commissioner said that ahead of submitting a comprehensive report to the Supreme Court, they will approach the Government of Sindh to take up the matter with the Federal Government and Railways Ministry for running a trial train on 20-kilometer track of KCR on a experimental basis.
He appreciated the efforts of all stakeholders to clear the track within 50/50 feet of KCR.
He called for need to continue anti-encroachment drive till the targets are achieved.
Shallwani said that they are working and clearing the track with same momentum to revive KCR. "We will be able to give this gift of KCR in practical manner to the Karachiities," he added.
The Commissioner has directed all DCs to initiate a operation beyond 50/50 Feet to 110/120 feet for further clearance of the any sort of encroachments in their jurisdictions.
Deputy Superintendent Railway Syed Mazhar Ali Shah also briefed the progress of secure track and operation carried by respective DCs with the support of Railway police and anti-encroachment cell and sent daily progress report to the Commissioner Karachi accordingly.
DIG Operation PR Azhar Rasheed Khan said that the Railway Police with the support of DCs are working as per strategy devised for revival of KCR.
The DCs East and West also briefed about the daily progress of operation launched since May 15 and onwards will ensure all track clear.
The ADC Central informed that nine-day operation plan will be launched from May 23 in the district as per strategy to bulldoze the settlements without any resistances.
The Commissioner Karachi said that before submitting the comprehensive and convincing report to SC on June 9, concrete stepsare being taken to revive KCR with collective and coordinated efforts
