Death Anniversary Of Quaid-e-Azam Observed At Islamia University Bahawalpur
The 70th death anniversary of the Father of the Nation Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was observed here Tuesday.
Faculty members and students of Islamia University Bahawalpur paid rich tributes to the Quaid in an event held to mark the day. Prof. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, Vice-Chancellor said in his message said that this day imposes paying homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah whose progressive and vibrant outlook paved the way for the creation of Pakistan. He added that we encountered ups and downs in our history after Pakistan came into being but we pulled through all the times. As compared to 1947, today's Pakistan is much developed and prosperous, he said.
"Today, economy of Pakistan stands at 25th rank in the world and we pegged a spot in all walks of life. The world is undergoing formidable changes at the time around. Origins of power are shifting at the international level. Backward and developing countries made their way to bracket among developed nations through the international platforms like BRICS and ASEAN.
We have to struggle for prosperity; we have human capital in the form of intelligent and promising youth and we are not deficient in resources. To this end, we have to adopt progressive and universal approaches and stay dynamic in all areas.
The Vice-Chancellor stressed upon the faculty that they can contribute an important role in character building of students based on Quaid's three principles; Unity, Faith, and Discipline. We can also harvest the talent of our institutions by adhering to the message of ego given by Quaid e Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Islamia University has already embarked upon the path of success. Over the period of only four years, it improved from 51st to 11th position in general category, attained the 3rd position in Pakistan in research according to world ranking, Nature Index and became 6th in Punjab in availing research grants.
