Five reports of Standing Committees presented in Senate

The Upper House of Parliament on Friday witnessed presentation of five reports of various Standing Committees while one report was referred back to the relevant committee for further consideration

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Feb, 2018 ) :The Upper House of Parliament on Friday witnessed presentation of five reports of various Standing Committees while one report was referred back to the relevant committee for further consideration.

Chairman, Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas, Senator Muhammad Usman Khan Kakar presented report of the Functional Committee on problems of Less Developed Areas for the period from March 12, 2015 to February 9, 2018.

Chairperson, Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Senator Nuzhat Sadiq presented reports of the committee on the scrutiny of proposed PSDP of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Financial Year 2018-19 and mid-year review of budget of Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Financial Year 2017-18.

Chairperson Standing Committee on Federal education and Professional Training Senator Rahila Magsi presented reports of the committee on the Federal Universities (Amendment) Bill, 2017 and the Islamabad Capital Territory Private Educational Institutions (Registration and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill, 2016.

The Chair referred back the report on the Area Study Centres (Amendment) Bill, 2017 to Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training.

The Chair asked the Chairman Standing Committee to address the issue in it while PML-F Senator Syed Muzaffar Hussain Shah opined that Committee should give recommendations to reject, amend or accept the bill.

Chairman, Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Senator Baz Muhammad Khan presented report of the Committee on a starred question asked by Senator Ahmed Hassan regarding number of residential colonies constructed for workers by the Workers Welfare board, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and subsequent Supplementary Question asked by Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh.

The House also passed a motion under sub-rule (1) of rule 194 of the Rules of Procedure and conduct of business in the senate, 2012 and granted extension to Standing Committee on Interior for presentation of its report on the Miscarriage of Justice (compensation) Bill, 2017 till March 6, 2018 with effect from February 23, 2018.

An adjournment motion sponsored by Senator Sherry Rehman was dropped due to her absence which was regarding rapid decline in the foreign reserves of Pakistan.
