Hanif Abbasi’s Bail Plea Fixed For Hearing

A hearing on ephedrine quota case was held in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday.

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th September, 2018) Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PMLN) leader Hanif Abbasi’s bail plea has been fixed for hearing.

A hearing on ephedrine quota case was held in the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday. A division bench comprising Justice Ibad ur Rehman and Justice Shahid Mubeen held the hearing of the case.

During the hearing, the court approved Abbasi’s petition to suspend his sentence and to get a bail for hearing.

The LHC division bench also issued a notice to the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF).

Abbasi, is serving a life sentence after his conviction in the ephedrine quota case.

Abbasi was shifted from Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail to Attock jail on Saturday.

The incarcerated PML-N leader was shifted to Attock jail on the directives of DIG Rawalpindi after his photo surfaced with Nawaz Sharif and others inside Adiala jail before the former premier's release.

Two photographs released on social media showed Nawaz Sharif with brother Shehbaz Sharif, Sardar Mehtab Khan, Murtaza Javed Abbasi and Raheel Munir. Another photograph showed Hanif Abbasi sitting beside Nawaz Sharif in the jail superintendent’s office.

After the photos surfaced, an inquiry committee was formed to investigate into the matter.
