IGP Punjab For Implementation Of ECP's Code Of Conduct During By-election

Inspector General Police Punjab Muhammad Tahir has said that implementation of code of conduct devised by the Election Commission during by-elections should be ensured at all costs in the respective districts.

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 10th Oct, 2018 ) :Inspector General Police Punjab Muhammad Tahir has said that implementation of code of conduct devised by the Election Commission during by-elections should be ensured at all costs in the respective districts.

Addressing to RPOs, DPOs in a video link conference at Central Police Office here on Wednesday, he said that police officials should perform their duties impartially and should proceed against the persons who were found guilty of aerial firing, display of weapons and violation of Loud Speaker Act.

He further said that officers and officials deployed on sensitive polling stations should remain on high alert and perform their duties with full commitment and patriotism. All these officers and officials deputed on polling duties should be provided with fresh food and water, he directed.

He moreover said that crackdown campaign, under supervision of DPOs against criminals of murder, dacoity, kidnapping for ransom, especially criminals involved in abuse of children and women, should be speeded up.

Muhammad Tahir said that punishment and reward, observation of merit and process of transparency should be given top preference and refresher courses with training workshops should be held for enhancing efficiency of investigation officers.

In the conference, All RPOs briefed IGP Punjab about security plans for by-election and overall situation of crimes in their respective ranges and further told that police have completed all arrangements to conduct peaceful election in all Constituencies of by-election in the province.

The IG Punjab, while directing to officers, said that not only peaceful environment during election should be ensured but also actions should be taken against those individuals who commit fireworks, aerial firing and violate rules and regulations of election after the announcement of results of their candidates.

He directed all DPOs to ensure weekly parade under their supervision in police lines of their districts in which inspection of vehicles should be supervised and welfare of force should be ensured. He said that weekly parade report should be furnished to the Operation Branch regularly.

He emphasized upon efficient monitoring of information technology based projects like front desk, 8787 IGP complaint management system, Police Station record Management System and Criminal Record Office.

The IG Punjab said that facility of Forensic Science Laboratory should be utilized for investigation in heinous crimes like murder, abuse and ransom. He further said that registration of FIRs in police stations should be ensured while people should be dealt with courtesy and good manners in police stations so that their issues may be resolved and a relation of trust between police and public may be evolved.

He said that senior officers should pay surprise visit to Police Stations for inspection and checking of records.
