Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh, Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam Tuesday directed the divisional heads of the police department to beef up security arrangements for Eid Milad un Nabi being celebrated on Wednesday.
In his directives Tuesday, he ordered that fool proof security cover be provided to the participants of the processions and rallies with equal attention that no law and order situation may erupt under any pretext.
With particular reference to Karachi the Sindh police chief said religious leaders and scholars must be taken into confidence ensuring that mutually decided routes dedicated for processions are strictly complied with it.
Only small vehicles, that too issued with needed permits are allowed to use these routes that are otherwise only for pedestrians, said the police chief.
Dr. Syed Kaleem Imam also urged the officials to ensure that ban on carrying any category of weapon be strictly implemented.
To ensure discipline and avert any possible chaos, IGP-Sindh said as per agreed arrangements no peddler or food sellers be allowed to join the procession whereas those keen to distribute "niaz" must beasked to place their stalls on road sides only.
