IHC Grants Bail To Director FO In Corruption Case

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 05th Oct, 2016 ) : Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday granted post-arrest bail to Director Foreign Office Shafqat Cheema in a corruption case. A division bench of Justice Noor ul Haq N.

Qureshi and Athar Minallah heard the bail plea of Shafqat Cheema. The counsel of the accused Amjad Iqbal Qureshi apprised the court that the medical board has suggested heart bypass surgery for Shafqat Cheema after examining his health situation.

He prayed the court to grant bail to his client due to his deteriorating health.

After hearing the arguments, the court accepted the bail plea of Shafqat Cheema against the surety bonds of two million rupees.

It may be mentioned here that on the directive of the IHC a medical board comprising of PIMS' doctors was constituted to examine the health of Shafqat Cheema which suggested his heart bypass surgery. The accused was arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) for making illegal assets through black money. APP/wsj/mir
