Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Removes Encroachments On Track Of Circular Railway

The Anti-Encroachments Department of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) with staffers of Pakistan Railways took action against encroachments to restore the Circular Railway Line in the city.
The illegal constructions were also removed from Gharibabad area adjacent to Liaquatabad from old furniture market beneath the Lyari Expressway on Wednesday, said a statement.
All encroachments were removed on the footpaths and railway track.
Encroachments were also removed from Sher Shah Akbar Road including 10 illegal warehouses which were built on footpaths and drain in district West.
As many as seven illegal shops were demolished in Ghosia Park and footpaths along with other encroachments in district Korangi.
Heavy machinery was used to remove illegal structures.
Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Syed Saif-ur-Rehman said that restoration of Circular Railway Track was started three days ago on the directives of Mayor Karachi Wasim Akhtar for which Pakistan Railways provided the manpower including 120 workers and 25 supervisors. So far encroachments at about one-kilometer area has been removed, he added.
He said that the removal of encroachments on railway track which begun in Gharibabad near Baloch hotel will continue to Paposh Nagar(Bara board).
This portion of railway line has a length of around 7.2 kilometers of which encroachments were being removed.
