KP CM Gives Away Compensation Cheques To Heirs Of Dengue Victims

PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Dec, 2017 ) :KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak Thursday gave away cheques of compensation to the legal heirs of 35 dengue affected deceased at Chief Minister House Peshawar.
It may be recalled that Rs 0.5 million has been announced as compensation for heirs of the total 65 persons expired in result of the recent onslaught of fatal dengue syndrome in Peshawar. Payment of the compensation to heirs of the remaining 30 deceased is also in process.
Senior Minister for Health Shahram Khan Tarakai, District Nazim Peshawar Mohammad Asim and high ups of the district administration were also present in the compensation cheques giving ceremony.
Addressing the cheque distribution ceremony, the Chief Minister said that eradication of all kinds of epidemics and free treatment of the chronic diseases as well as providing quality healthcare facilities to the poor at their door steps was top most priority of the PTI government.
He said that emergency steps of different nature were taken in wake of the recent outbreak of dengue in Peshawar. He said that long term measures were also being taken to completely eliminate the dengue, Congo and other such viruses and diseases from the province.
He said the present provincial government believed in actions rather than lip service. He said other provincial governments took comparatively long time to control dengue virus in their provinces than Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pervez Khattak said that compensation amount was being given to the heirs of dengue affected people for the first time in history of the province. He said this virus has affected different countries of the world including Pakistan.
He said he ordered for the mobilization of the all government machinery and departments soon after reporting of the first dengue case. He said that health monitoring teams comprising lady health workers, polio workers, water supply, sanitation and town officials were constituted who started door to door visits, conducted anti dengue fog spray rounds to check the spread of dangerous mosquitoes, mechanical cleanliness of roads and streets was ensured, dengue awareness campaign was started, broachers and pamphlets as well as mosquito lotion and aqua chlorine tablets were distributed among the people.
Similarly, actions were also taken against careless tyre shop owners involved in causing spread of the mosquitoes. Chief Minister said that a comprehensive plan was being embarked upon right from 2017 to March 2018 for uprooting the dengue virus from the province. He expressed the confidence that provincial government would soon emerge successful to wipe out dengue larva from Peshawar.
