National Assembly Starts Discussion On Country's Economic Condition

Parliamentarians from both government and the Opposition benches in the National Assembly on Thursday started discussion on existing economic condition of the country.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Nov, 2018 ) :Parliamentarians from both government and the Opposition benches in the National Assembly on Thursday started discussion on existing economic condition of the country.

Participating in the discussion, Federal Minister for education Shafqat Mehmood said that the country's people have high hopes from the present government and it will take innovative steps to improve the economic condition of the country.

He said that President State Bank of Pakistan has planned to visit China and expressed the hope that there will concrete announcements. He said that the country was in vulnerable condition earlier but due to government's innovative steps things were improving now. He said that poor policies of past governments have resulted weakening the country's economic condition. He said that the government has been trying to control, expenditure to overcome the difficult situation.

He said that water shortage is a serious issue being faced by the country as past governments did nothing in this regard. He said that there was complete failure of past governments in improving all major issues faced by the country. He said that the government has announced several incentives for cotton and textile industry to boost export.

"We have to improve our exports and overcome fiscal deficit." He said that social sector will also be part of that China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project now. He said that the government was focusing on clean and green project besides boosting housing sector. He suggested to have a charter of economy in the parliament at the end of this debate.

MNA Syed Naveed Qamar urged the government to take sincere steps to improve economic condition of the country. He said that the government should make proper planning to improve agriculture and power sector. He said that innovative steps should be taken for revenue generation. He said that social welfare should be the top priority of the government.

MNA Ahsan Iqbal said that saving and investment have lowest rate in countries like Pakistan despitehectic efforts. "We need to have policies to overcome saving and fiscal deficit", he expressed. He said that export of the country remained at lowest rate which is not a good sign since long. He suggested having strong policies to improve the export of the country with drastic changes in production structure.
