Over 17,550 Quackery Outlets Sealed

LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Dec, 2018 ) :The Punjab Healthcare Commission has sealed more than 17,550 quackery outlets besides visiting over 26,313 treatment centres so far.
As per the information, out of the visited centres, 8,223 quacks had also shut down their shops and started other businesses.
The district administrations had also inspected 3,220 premises and sealed 1,540 outlets as per the PHC Act 2010.
Since mid-April this year, the PHC and the district authorities had inspected 29,533 treatment centres, and sealed over 8,750 quack businesses.
The PHC teams had sealed 947 quackery outlets in Lahore, 554 in Faisalabad, 499 in Gujranwala, 482 in Sheikhupura and 422 in Kasur 422.
Moreover, the Commission had received over 3,700 desealing applications. While proceeding further on these requests, the PHC hearing committees had imposed fine of over Rs230 million on quacks as well.
It is pertinent to mention here that since July 2015, the commission has closed down over 17,550 businesses of quacks in the province.
