Over 18,000 Unregistered Afghan Refugees Registered During Last Four

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 24th Aug, 2017 ) : Chief Commissioner for Afghan Refugees Dr Imran Zaib Khan said that Government of Pakistan has launched a registration campaign for unregistered Afghan refugees from August 20 and so far over 18500 have been registered.
He was speaking in a meeting with a delegation of Afghan refugees who met with him at Ministry of States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) here on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the other high officials of the Ministry of SAFRON including Joint Secretary and Commissioner of Afghan refugees for Islamabad Saleem Khan.
He said that 21 Afghan refugees registration centres have been set up across the country and Proof of Registration (PoR) cards would be issued to them after Eid-ul Azha. Imran Zaib said Pakistan has taken various steps for the welfare of Afghan Refugees.
He said the government is providing skill training programs, scholarships to the refugee students in different universities of the country, besides granting admissions in the medical and engineering fields.
Pakistan and Afghanistan have cordial relationship as Muslim brother countries, he said adding that Ministry of SAFRON would follow all the decisions of Federal Cabinet about the Afghan refugees.
Pakistan has been issuing study visas, business and medical treatment for the patients and trying to legalize all the system to facilitate maximum refugees. The delegation of journalist appreciated the generosity and hospitality of Pakistan which is hosting million plus refugees from 37 years.
They said Pakistan is following the true teachings of islam and cooperating with Afghanistan. They hailed the flexible visa policy for Afghan nationals. The Afghan journalists requested the Government of Pakistan to take more steps for the training of skilled labour and professionals because the Government of Afghanistan need the professionals in the different fields.
