Minister for Religious Affairs Noor ul Haq Qadri Monday informed the National Assembly that Pakistan Madrasah Education Board (PMEB) had failed to achieve its set objectives
Replying to a question during Question Hour in the National Assembly he said, that there was no justification of Pakistan Madrasah Education Board existence any more as it had failed to achieve set goals.
Madrasah Board could not become functional because Wafaqs and Tanzeemat did not nominate their representatives on the board and refused to adopt the government initiative, he added.
He said madaris were playing a crucial role in construction, development and moral values of the society.
On another question, he said two thousand Riyals fee had been imposed by Saudi government on the pilgrims, who offered Umra for the second or multiple times.
This fee has been levied on repeat Umra performers of all nationalities, he added.
He said that Saudi Arabian authorities were being pursued for waiver of tax of 2,000 riyals imposed on Pakistani performing Umrah every year.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan during his visit to Saudi Arabia in September, 2018 also discussed this issue with the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman.
The minister said that he also discussed the issue with the Saudi Information Minister for waiver of the tax but response from the KSA is still awaited.
