PCCC auditorium named after Dr Mahboob Ali

MULTAN, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 13th Dec, 2016 ) : The Ministry of Textile Industry has named the Pakistan Central Cotton Committee (PCCC) auditorium after veteran scientist Dr Mahboob Ali in recognition of his services in the agriculture sector.

Dr Mahboob Ali had taken the lead in introducing heat-resistant and virus-resistant cotton varieties in Pakistan and advocated shift from traditional to modern production technologies that helped increased cotton production in Pakistan, says a release issued by the CCRI Multan spokesman here Tuesday.

He was born in Gurdaspur (India) on Aug 13 in 1923 and later shifted to Pakistan where he did his MSc from Faisalabad University and completed his PhD from Texas University (USA) in 1955.

The government awarded him presidential Pride of Performance Award and many others in recognition of his services.

He is also listed among the great scientists of the world in 2012 and 2015. Dr Mahboob Ali retired from service while serving as Chairman Punjab Seed Council. He remained actively engaged in agriculture research till last. He had died on Oct 14 in 2015.
