LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 31st Oct, 2016 ) : Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah on Monday dismissed a petition seeking implementation of the Supreme Court judgment in the Asghar Khan case.
The court observed that the apex court gave judgement in the Asghar Khan case, so the same forum be approached for the implementation. The court held that the matter was not limited to the residents of the Punjab province but also involved individuals belonging to other provinces.
The petition was filed by Fayyaz Mehr Advocate, a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Lawyers Forum, submitting that the SC announced the verdict in 2012 and ordered the FIA to hold an inquiry into distribution of Rs 140 million among politicians during the 1990 elections.
The court also ordered proceedings against politicians found involved in the scandal, he said. However, he added, no action had been taken so far. The petitioner said that the Federal government and the FIA were acting as silent spectators, and prayed to the court to order the federal government to implement the judgment and bring the responsible to justice.
