MOHMAND, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 2nd May, 2019 ) :Prime Minister Imran Khan here Thursday arrived for groundbreaking ceremony of historic Mohmand hydropower dam project being constructed on upstream of River Swat.
Khyber Pakthunkhwa Governor Shah Farman, Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, former Chief Justice of Pakistan, Mian Saqib Nisar, Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vowda, Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Pir Noorul Haq Qadari, Senator Faisal Javed and Member National Assembly, Sajid Khan besides PTI leaders and Wapda officials attended the ceremony.
Wapda Chairman Lt Gen (Retd) Muzamil Hussain briefed the Prime Minister about salient features of the dam.
Wapda chairman said the dam would generate around 800Megawatt electricity for industrial, agriculture and domestic consumptions and will be completed in five years (2024). The project will generate over 6000 jobs including four hundreds directly for the engineers.
