PTI, ANP all set for electoral fight on PK-44 seat, vacated by Speaker National Assembly

The Pakistan Tehrik Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) are all set for one on one electoral battle in the upcoming bye election on PK-44 constituency Swabi district, vacated by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar, on October 14.

SWABI (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 9th Oct, 2018 ) :The Pakistan Tehrik Insaf (PTI) and Awami National Party (ANP) are all set for one on one electoral battle in the upcoming bye election on PK-44 constituency Swabi district, vacated by Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaisar, on October 14.

The PTI has put up former MNA Aaqibullah Khan brother of Asad Qaisar and ANP fielded Ghulam Hassan for the bye elections in the constituency which the political observers believed would see one on one contest on coming Sunday.

The election commission has finalized arrangements for the smooth conduct of the polling. Asad Qaisar had vacated the seat after the July 25 elections as he retained NA-18 constituency.

The ANP candidate is enjoying support of the Mutahidda Opposition parties including JUI-F, PML-N, Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) and Jamaat e Islami (JI).

The number of registered voters in the constituency is 201369 including 112886 male and 88483 female. In all 161 polling stations have been setup for the bye poll including 88 male, 72 female and one joint.

The administration has declared 14 polling stations as most sensitive, 64 sensitive and 83 normal. The canvassing in the constituency would end up on the night between Oct.12-13.

It merits a mention here that PTI candidate Aaqibullah Khan had also won this seat in the bye elections in 2013 after Asad Qaisar vacated his NA seat and opted to retain provincial seat and became Speaker of the KP Assembly for 2013-18.
