PTI Withdraws Disqualification Reference Against Zardari

Khurram Sher Zaman said he has found solid evidence against Zardari and he will only present it in the Supreme Court. 

Lahore (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th January, 2019) The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has withdrawn the disqualification reference against former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

PTI leader Khurram Sher Zaman, who had filed a disqualification reference against Zardari for allegedly concealing a flat in the United States, said that he has found solid evidence against Zardari and he will only present it in the Supreme Court.

Zaman while speaking to the media said, "I want to move the Supreme Court against the PPP president."

"We have come across evidence that we will only present before a top forum," the PTI leader stated.

The PTI had filed a disqualification reference against Zardari in the Election Commission for allegedly concealing a flat in the United States.

The plea maintained that the former president was elected from NA-213 and the New York property was not mentioned in the asset details submitted to ECP.

"Concealing assets comes under article 62-1f of the constitution. Zardari has not remained 'Sadiq' and 'Amin' therefore; he should be declared disqualified," the plea added.

Zaman said it had come to his knowledge that the PPP co-chairman did not declare an apartment allegedly owned by him in New York in his nomination papers under Section 60(2) of the Elections Act 2017 for the July 25, 2018 general election.
