Punjab Assembly Session Prorogued Sine Die

The Punjab Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution to condemn the assassination of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Samiul Haq.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 8th Nov, 2018 ) :The Punjab Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution to condemn the assassination of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam chief Maulana Samiul Haq.
The resolution was tabled by Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja. The resolution demanded the arrest of Maulana's killers. The resolution counted the services of Maulana Samiul Haq for the country and islam.
The Punjab Assembly sitting, the first (and only) of the fourth session of the current assembly was requisitioned by the opposition.
The sitting started an hour and 51 minutes behind its scheduled time with Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the chair. As many as 205 lawmakers were present at the outset of the sitting.
The speaker suspended the Question-Hour and allowed lawmakers to discuss law and order situation prevailing in the province.
Besides, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Muhammad Basharat Raja, over a dozen lawmakers from both treasury and opposition benches, took part in the debate.
Provincial Information and Culture Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan held the PML-N leadership responsible for the current staggering economy, saying massive corruption surfaced in mega development projects launched and completed during Shehbaz Sharif era. "Multan Metro project, power projects, Orange Line Metro Train project and 56 companies scam are glaring examples of corruption, committed by former chief minister Punjab," he added.
Coming down hard on the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly, the information minister charged Hamza Shehbaz with minting money in poultry sector and said he (Hamza) made billions of rupees by destroying the small poultry businesses.
In response to allegations of former education and sports minister, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, he said that he (Mashhood) had been playing the role of 'Front Man' for former chief minister Punjab. "Mashhood made money in the youth festival," he alleged.
Punjab Minister for Public Prosecution Zaheer-ud-Din said, the PTI had come to power with votes of people to curb corruption and they would go to every extent to attain the goal.
He said that corruption of billions of rupees had come to fore in the Saaf Pani project.
Taking floor of the House, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Investment Mian Aslam Iqbal questioned that why the PML-N government had abandoned the Wazirabad Cardiology Hospital project.
He alleged that Nawaz-League had turned the province into a police state. He said that those levelling allegations against the PTI leadership should look into their own deeds.
PML-N lawmakers Malik Ahmed Ali, Owais Leghari and others said that the Shehbaz Sharif-led government completed mega projects in the province and masses were being benefiting from them.
The six members, whose entries had been banned by the Speaker on the charge of hooliganism and destroying House's belongings, also attended the session on Thursday.
On completion of the agenda, the Speaker prorogued the sitting sine die.
