Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management Company (RSWMC) under its 20-day special cleanliness drive concluded on Monday, has achieved zero waste target in 10 Union Councils (UCs) of the city.

RAWALPINDI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th Nov, 2018 ) :Rawalpindi Solid Waste Management Company (RSWMC) under its 20-day special cleanliness drive concluded on Monday, has achieved zero waste target in 10 Union Councils (UCs) of the city.

The company launched the drive on November 5 in 10 UCs under Clean and Green Punjab program and succeeded to remove 3990 tons solid waste which was shifted to Losar landfill site.

The participants of an awareness workshop held here at Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) were informed that all out efforts were made to make 10 UCs of the city model localities.

The workshop was attended by Member Provincial Assembly Memona Waheed, ADC, Finance and Planning Noseen Sarwar, MD RSWMC, Rizwan Ali Sher Dil, Shakeel Chohan, Nafees Iqbal, Deputy Director Social Welfare Nabila Malik, Chairman UC 26 Azhar Satti, Coordinator PP-17, Raja Nazakat and others.

Memona Waheed addressing the participants said that RSWMC had set a good example to clean 10 UCs of the town and the same spirit and model should be followed to clean the entire city so that the targets of Clean and Green Punjab Program could be achieved.

She further said the green areas should also be enhanced as the areas under forest cover are just three to five percent in Pakistan which must be 20 to 30 percent. The MPA urged the citizens to come forward and play their role to make the plantation campaign a success.

Noseen Sarwar on the occasion appreciated efforts of RSWMC to achieve target of the campaign in 10 UCs which were declared model UCs.

She underlined the need for creating awareness regarding importance of cleanliness and the role of the citizens adding the government alone cannot achieve the targets in this regard.

She said, every citizen has a role which must be played to make the clean and green Pakistan Program a success.

At the end of the workshop, the officers and officials of RSWMC who showedexcellent performance during the campaign were awarded the shields. Later, anawareness walk was also organized which was attended by all the participants.
