Security Being Beefed Up Across AJK Ahead Of Muharram Ul Haraam

MIRPUR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 21st Jun, 2025) In Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK), law enforcement authorities have moved to beef up the due security arrangements to maintain already-prevailed complete peace and order during the holy month of Muharram ul Haraam ahead of the sanctified day of Youm-e-Ashur—the 10th of Muharram, falling on July 06—to maintain complete peace and order during Muharram, official sources said.

With the proposed induction of extra police contingents at the vulnerable points—the places of worship, including the Imam bargahs, will be in high security alert to maintain peace and tranquility—with prime focus to frustrate any untoward incident in the area during religious gatherings of Muharram, official sources told APP here on Saturday.

The AJK administration, including the state police authorities, was giving due touches to the foolproof security arrangements across AJK, including in all three divisions: Muzaffarabad, Poonch, and Mirpur. Mirpur Division comprises the Mirpur, Kotli, and Bhimbher districts.

The authorities have reportedly decided to put the police on high alert at all the entry and exit points leading to the AJK districts to discourage the entry of any unscrupulous and antisocial elements.

Besides Divisional Commissioners and DIGs of police of all three divisions, Deputy Commissioners of all ten districts of AJK, as well as the concerned district police chiefs and senior officials of other law enforcement agencies, were inking the foolproof security arrangements in this connection, the official sources said.

Authorities have principally decided to post additional police forces in plain clothes besides in uniform at all the vulnerable points in AJK to maintain complete peace and order during Muharram ul Haraam.

“An additional police force is proposed to be deputed all over AJK, including all three districts of the Mirpur division, to maintain peace and tranquility during the sacred month,” the official said while elaborating on the security arrangements being taken in this district during Muharram-ul-Haraam.
