Shawwal moon less likely to be sighted today: Met office

Moon only expected to be sighted in Balochistan’s coastal areas

Islamabad (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 14th June, 2018) The Met office has issued another statement regarding the sighting of Shawwal moon.

According to Met office, the Shawwal crescent is unlikely to be sighted in Pakistan, today. The moon has been born last night. The age of the moon will be around 19 hours at sunset.

However, the Shawwal moon is predicted to be sighted in Balochistan’s coastal areas.

Meanwhile, the central Ruet-e-Hilal committee will meet on today evening to sight Shawwal moon.

The meeting of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee for sighting the crescent of Shawwal 1439 AH will be held at Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi.

Some other members of the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will hold the meetings at their respective provincial and district Ruet-e-Hilal Committees.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee led by its chairman Mufti Munibur Rehman will gather the information from all across Pakistan and will announce the decision about the sighting of the Eid-ul-Fitr moon or otherwise.

The Meteorological Department has made a prediction about sighting of Shawwal moon.

According to Met office, scientifically, Shawwal moon is less likely to be sighted on 29 Ramadan.

The Met office has sent details regarding the age of Shawwal crescent to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.

According to the Met office, the Shawwal crescent will be born on June 14 at 12:45am. The crescent could be seen on the sky for 39 minutes after the sunset. The age of the moon will be 19 minutes 3 minutes after the sunset.

Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be on June 16, according to this prediction. In case the moon is sighted on 29 Ramzan, Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on June 15.

The Meteorological Department had earlier predicted that scientifically, Shawwal moon is less likely to be sighted on 29 Ramadan.
