Sindh Cabinet Approves Allotment Of Land For More Power Plants

Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Information, Law and Anti-Corruption Barrister Murtaza Wahab has said that after inauguration of 660 megawatt electricity power project at Thar coal project, Sindh cabinet has approved allotment of land for setting up five more power plants near Islamkot
He said that first tranche of compensation for 757 affected families of Gorano dam has been approved in the cabinet as each family would be provided Rs 1,00,000 annually.
He said this in a media briefing on decisions taken by the Sindh Cabinet in its meeting held on Thursday, said a statement.
The advisor said cabinet has discussed budget strategy and meeting was informed that during fiscal year 2018-19 Rs 411 billion has been transferred to Sindh government under National Finance Commission and OZT share.
He said that Sindh cabinet has approved 1 million each for the families of three victims belonging to Bajor who were killed in an unfortunate incident in Larkana.
He further said that Rs 20 million, one government job and one plot has been approved by cabinet for the police constable who embraced martyrdom in attack on Mufti Taqi Usmani in Karachi.
He said that Sindh government has fixed rate of Rs 182 per 40 kg of sugarcane for the season 2018-19.
He said that Sindh cabinet has approved the Sindh Explosive Act and referred to standing committee of Sindh Assembly.
The advisor informed that amendment in the Sindh Advisors (Appointment, Powers, Functions, Salaries, Allowances & Privileges) Act, 2003, has been approved and referred it to Sindh Assembly adding that Chief Minister Sindh under clause (II) of article 130 could appoint five advisors in his cabinet.
He said that powers of parole and allotment of B- class has been delegated to Secretary Home.
He said that Parole Law 1894 existed since British era and it is used in case of any medical emergency to inmates and in case of death of their relatives.
The Advisor Information said that committee has been set up which will be headed by Minister for Prices to evolve a mechanism for keeping check on prices.
Responding to a question, Barrister Murtaza Wahab said that corruption reference in the Karachi Intermediate board would be taken to its logical conclusion in a complete transparent manner.
To another question, he said that Sindh government was well aware of situation of Thar, the Revenue Department has moved a summary for extending the wheat facility in Thar adding that decision in thisregard will be taken in next meeting of the Sindh cabinet.
