Talal Badar Ch among 16 in the run for NA-102

FAISALABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Jul, 2018 ) ::As many as 16 candidates including former state minister for interior Mohammad Talal Badar Chaudhry are in the run for the National Assembly seat NA-102 (Faisalabad-2), previously NA-76 constituency.

According to a spokesman for the Elections Commission of Pakistan (ECP), there are a total of 499,195 registered voters including 275,207 males and 223,988 females in the constituency.

In this constituency, 374 polling stations have been established including 135 for males, 132 for females and 107 combined stations, while 1,092 polling booths including 588 for males and 504 for females have also been set up.

He said that 374 presiding officers, 2,184 assistant presiding officers and 1,092 polling officers will perform their duties on the election day.

Eighty polling stations of this constituency have been declared sensitive where CCTV cameras would also be installed.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has fielded Talal Badar in this constituency while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) awarded the party ticket to Nawab Sher, who was among the electables who joined the PTI after abandoning his decades old affiliation with Pakistan People's Party (PPP) before the general election.

Other candidates include Mohammad Shah Jehan Khan of PPPP, Pir Tayyab Raza Shah of Tehreek-e-Labiak Pakistan (TLP), Rashid Ahmad Khan of All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), Riaz Ahmad of Pakistan People's Party (Shaheed Bhutto), Kashif Altaf of Allah-o-Akbar Tehreek, Mohammad Kamran Khan of Move on Pakistan and eight independent candidates.

Three Punjab Province (PP) Constituencies including PP-99, PP-100 and PP-101 are attached with this constituency.

For PP-99, Akbar Ali of PML-N, Ali Akhtar of PTI and Mian Abu Bakar Hamza of PPPP are among 17 candidates, who are contesting polls. But, according to a survey, the actual contest is between the PML-N and PTI candidates.

For PP-100, thirteen candidates are contesting the election. The PML-N has fielded former MPA Iffat Meraz Awan, PTI gave ticket to former Punjab Minister Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and PPPP fielded Shafqat Rana. But according to the survey, actual contest is between the PML-N and PTI candidates.

For PP-101, the PML-N fielded former MPA Rai Haidar Ali Khan while Ghulam Haider Bari of PTI are among 19 candidates in the field. The real contest will take place between the PML-N and PTI candidates.

The NA-102 constituency consists of tehsil Jaranwala area and major clans in this constituency include Rajput, Arain and Kharl.

In 2013 elections, PML-N candidate Mohammad Talal Badar Chaudhary won the old NA-76 seat with 101,797 votes, beating then Pakistan People's Party Parliamentarians (PPPP) candidate Nawab Sher, who got 35,750 votes.

Although PPP, TLP and MMA and many independent candidates are in the field, a tough fight is expected between the PML-N candidate MohammadTalal Badar Chaudhry and PTI candidate Nawab Sher.
