PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 20th Nov, 2018 ) :Diplomatic and international relations experts here Tuesday deplored the recent irrational statement of US President Donald Trump against Pakistan, saying such false assertions would make negative effect over the ongoing war against terrorism and peace efforts in the region.

Former Ambassador of Pakistan in Afghanistan Rustam Shah Mohmand told APP that Pakistan had paid a heavy price in term of human lives and economic losses in US war against terrorism and President Trump's repeated accusations are like sprinkling salt on wounds of 120 million Pakistanis.

He said no US ally had rendered so much sacrifices than Pakistan and our country's constructive role in regional peace, stability and sacrifices in war against terror should be recognized by US and other world powers.

Rustam Shah said Pakistan should strengthen its relations with neighboring countries including China, Russia and Iran besides GULF states in the wake of US President allegations. He said role of Pakistan in stability and peace in the war torn Afghanistan is of paramount importance and without Islamabad support lasting peace can't be established there.

He said anti Pakistan lobby was active to create differences between Islamabad and Washington and ill designs of such negative elements could be frustrated only by using diplomatic channels for resolution of issues and problems rather than relying on tweets.

The former ambassador said tweets were mostly personal opinions of an individual and could hardly affect foreign policies and relations, saying statement issued by Foreign Offices were considered most valid view point of a country on regional and internal issues.

Chairman Political Science Department, University of Peshawar, Professor Dr. Z A Hilali has also deplored the recent statement of US President and termed it illogical. He said US President wants to put Pakistan under pressure through such irrational statements, saying such false assertions can do nothing but create differences and mistrust among the close allies.

He said Pak-US strong relations were in the interest of both countries and world peace. He said Pakistan had joined US war despite not a single Pakistani was involved in 9/11 attacks in US. He said Pakistan was the only country that had suffered 75000 casualties and over $123billion losses to its economy in US war against terror, saying Pakistan cannot be made scapegoat of US failures in Afghanistan.

Despite 140,000 NATO troops and 250,000 afghans forces, he said US had failed to establish peace in Afghanistan.

Dr Hilali appreciated the statement of Prime Minister Imran Khan in response to false accusations of US President and termed it reflections of people's aspirations.

Professor Dr Ejaz Khan of International Relations Department University of Peshawar said Pakistan was an important country and its role in world and regional peace was of paramount importance. He said Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees during last four decades and urged US to play role in their repatriations to their home country.
