The K-Electric marked the World Energy Conservation Day with the launch of an online portal `pledge to conserve, says an announcement on Thursday
KARACHI, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 14th Dec, 2017 ) :The K-Electric marked the World Energy Conservation Day with the launch of an online portal `pledge to conserve, says an announcement on Thursday.
It said that being the first electric utility in Pakistan to offer Energy Conservation and Energy Efficiency Programs to its consumers, K-Electric celebrated World Energy Conservation Day with its employees at the KE House.
To further reinvigorate this spirit the event also earmarked the launch of an online portal `Pledge to Conserve' which is an easily accessible digital platform whereby KE consumers can pledge to convert at least 1 candescent light bulb to LED.
For every bulb converted to LED, it will save the lighting load up to 60% which equates to planting 5 trees in a year.
K-Electric's Chief Strategy Officer Eram Hasan added, `We as individuals must collectively strive to embrace an energy efficient lifestyle and work towards achieving our sustainability goals.
K-Electric has been a strong advocate of Energy Efficiency and conservation and we inculcate this in our core business values'. It was pointed out that KE regularly conducts energy audits based on global standards of (ISO 50001) to improve efficiency of power for its industrial and residential consumers.
To date more than 1.3 million consumers have been reached through K-Electric's Energy Conservation Campaigns including more than 50,000 school children. In the last one year nine MW of electricity has been optimized through various Energy Conservation initiatives.
