Dir Lower, Chitral Advance In 13th NBP Inter-District Soccer

Dir Lower and Chitral advanced to next round in the ongoing 13th edition of the NBP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inter-District Football Championship being played here at Tehmas Khan Football Stadium on Monday.
Former Pakistan team skipper and Chairman Pakistan Football Referees Association Qazi Muhammad Asif was the chief guest on this occasion and before the start of the matches players of all the four participating teams were introduced to him.
Organizing Secretary Basit Kamal, Match Commissioner Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah, District sports Officer Jamshed Baloch and large number of spectators were also present and witnessed the two matches.
In the first match Lower Dir was a goal down at the half-time against Charsadda but it played a very superb game in the second session and won the match by 2-1. Charsadda's right winger Waqar opened the account in the 14th minute through field attempt and Charsadda inctacted the lead well at the end of the first session.
It was the second session in which Charsadda lost an edge over the match because of the Lower Dir excellent man to man marking. Dir Lower found the equalizer in the 49th minute through center striker Asmat Ullah on the field attempt. After Asmat's excellent goal, Sher Ali the left winger of Dir Lower succeeded in enabling the team to take a vital lead. Sher Ali got the ball at the center line and zoomed quickly by reaching in front of the goal-post where he kicked into the net to make the tally 2-1.
Charsadda after conceding a goal tried their hard to level the tally but due to poor finishing and handing the ball on crucial occasions it lost the match by 2-1.
FIFA Referee Anwar, Abid Khan and Zeeshan supervised the match.
In the second match, Chitral defeated Malakand by penalty shoot-out after playing a 3-3 draw in the stipulated 70-minute. It was a very good match as both Chitral and Malakand players played well and received thundering applauses from sitting spectators.
Kaleeq opened the account for Chitral in the 7th minute through field attempt while Rizwan and Waqar scored one goal each in the 18th and 29th minute on the field attempt to make the tally 3-0 well before the half-time.
On the other hand Malakand after conceding three goals played with determination putting pressure on the rival defence with some fine inroads as a result it was in the dying moments of the first session when Maroof found the net from the 25-yard distance through a foul conversion kick. At half-time Chitral was leading by 3-1.
It was the second session in which Malakand relatively played and succeeded in leveling the tally 3-3 when Awais and Maaz, the right and left winger, scored one goal each by making the tally 3-all.
To get the result of the match both were awarded five each penalty kicks on which Chitral scored on all five occasions but Malakand missed an opportunity and thus Chitral won the match 8-7. Ikram, Zakir and Alluddin supervised the match.
