Frontier College For Women Wins Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Inter-College Games Trophy

Frontier College for Women clinched the overall trophy by securing 40 points in the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Inter-College Games, which concluded here at University Campus premises on Tuesday
Member Provincial Assembly Sumi Falak Naz was the chief guest at the occasion. VC Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Professor Dr. Razia Sultana, former World Champion Qamar Zaman, Miss Shaheen Umar, President of the Sports Committee, Deputy Director Sports Mariyyah Samin, officials, players and large number of university students were also present.
The ceremony was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Qaria Safia Khan, followed by the National anthem presented by the smartly prepared Band of the SBBWU led by Miss Bakhtarwar Khan.
All the participating contingents from the affiliated 36 colleges took part in the March Past which was largely enjoyed the sitting spectators with their good cheering response. The Teacher and Guest Tug of War turned the whole complexion into a melodious one when the Teachers of all the affiliated colleges defeated the guest team by 2-0.
Despite strong down pour, the players from various colleges including colleges in the merger tribal districts actively participated in the colourful Ball Throw, melodious traditional "Athern" dance performance prepared by GGDC City Gulbahar which enthralled the sitting spectators.
The Martial Arts (Taekwondo) and breaking of marble pieces demonstration of the City Gulbahar students added more amusement and entertainment to the overall colourful ceremony wherein the culture dress show has truly depicted the tradition of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Speaking on this occasion, MPA Sumi Falak Naz appreciated the University for organizing its 9th Annual Day Sports by involving female students of all 36 affiliated colleges in healthy sports activities.
She urged the students to take active part in sports. She said such activities in the school and colleges were essential for giving due opportunities to the students to excel and exhibit their hidden talent.
Sumi Falak Naz assured that she would talk to Senior Minister Muhammad Atif Khan for taking appropriate measures for the development of sports infrastructure inside the leading Women University of the province. She said the govt was committed to empower women in all fields including sports and assured that she would do her efforts for ensuring all facilities of sports to the women players inside the University Campus.
In her welcome address VC Prof. Dr. Razia Sultana disclosed that they have also talked to the Chief Minister Mahmood Khan when he was Sports Minister KP to provide indoor gymnasium facilities to the girls' students but so far no progress has been made.
She said a request would be made to Senior Minister Muhammad Atif Khan but he could not make it to the event due to his hectic engagements. She said DG Sports Junaid Khan is striving hard for providing all sporting facilities to the male across the province and hopefully he would take steps in provide due facilities to the female as well.
Earlier, the chief guest awarded trophies, cash prizes and certificates to the position holders. FCW won the overall trophy by securing 40 points, followed by Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University with 39 points, and City Gulbahar.
Aysha Khan of SBBWU was declared as the best players of the Games as she besides participating in other Games also won three gold medal in 100m, 200m and long jump and silver medals in shot put and 400m race. The overall athlete trophy also won by SBBWU with 32 points, followed by Bacha Khan with 32 points and FCW with 22 points.
