NFL: Ravens seek to ride late momentum into playoffs

The Baltimore Ravens aim to cap their late-season surge with a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday that will punch their ticket to the NFL post-season

Los Angeles, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 29th Dec, 2017 ) :The Baltimore Ravens aim to cap their late-season surge with a victory over the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday that will punch their ticket to the NFL post-season.

The Ravens are one of four teams -- along with the Tennessee Titans, Los Angeles Chargers and Buffalo Bills -- chasing the last two playoff spots in the American Football Conference as the regular season concludes.

The Ravens and Titans both control their own destiny and will be in with wins. "We have to handle our business," Baltimore linebacker Terrell Suggs said. "We all have a job to do. We just have to put together one good game, and we are in.

If we win, we are in. Everybody knows that second season, we become a different team -- a special team." The Titans will be vying for a first playoff berth since 2008 when they take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.

Unlike the Ravens, the Titans have slumped late, and go into the clash with the playoff-bound Jaguars having lost three in a row.

The Chargers' chances of advancing depend on a win over the Oakland Raiders -- plus help from the results of their rivals.

Quarterback Philip Rivers said he won't waste time worrying about the complicated scenarios. "I can't find one yet where we can lose and still make it," Rivers said. "We can only control what we control.

I don't think any of us are going to be carried away over what else is going on and then not take care of our business." The Bills have the same mind-set as they visit the Miami Dolphins. "If we don't win, it's not going to matter," Bills coach Sean McDermott said of his team's slim playoff hopes.

"We need to focus on the task at hand." The reigning Super Bowl champion New England Patriots can secure home field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a victory over the New York Jets or a Pittsburgh Steelers loss to the Cleveland Browns. The Browns will be trying to avoid joining the 2008 Detroit Lions as the only teams to finish a season 0-16.
